The Olympus VR310 digital camera offers unrivalled value for money – a combination of the newest technology, the most compact design and the easiest handling at a sensationally low price. The VR-310 has what it takes for a fast-paced, high-tech lifestyle and in this price category it’s head and shoulders above the rest. None of the VR-310’s rivals comes close to its startling combination of features: a powerful optical zoom, slim dimensions, seven creative Magic Filter options and HD Movie capability. With this impressive spec, the Olympus VR-310 delivers more than just value-for-money.

The VR-310 also has two more continuous shooting modes – High Speed 1 and High Speed 2. High Speed 2 yields the highest rate, in testing it was capable of 7.5fps, but at a maximum of 3 megapixels and shoots at a higher ISO than High Speed 1, which managed 2.9fps, also at 3 megapixels.

This type of camera is often targeted at people that are considering a holiday. This is because of the combination of smaller size and amount of zoon. It comes in a variety of colours and you can choose from versions in pink, silver, black and red. This offers plenty of megapixels and zoom in a relatively small body size. It may not quite slip into the pocket of your jeans, but it is still a very handy size for a digital camera offering you this much zoom. When it comes to using the it handles like a standard point and shoot digital camera.

“The camera is remarkably easy to use. For starters the menu down the right hand side of the camera gives good access to everything. There is a separate button for video too which is well thought of as this is a bugbear in other point and shoots as I am always switching back and forth between video and pictures. It is very well built, like a tank really. The zoom operates smoothly and quietly which I wasn’t expecting in this camera. Overall quite impressed with this for an inexpensive camera.”

letsgodigital.org reviews writes:

“The 14 megapixel Olympus VR-310 is a unique digital camera when you consider the price and the amount of zoom that this camera offers. However, for just a bit more money and/or a camera with less zoom, you can expect better image quality. The Olympus VR-310 is easy to use and very compact to carry with you.”

pocket-lint.com reviews writes:

“Though the Olympus’s metal exterior outwardly betters what we’d expect from a £99 camera and initially lures us in due to this unexpected promise, the end results unfortunately confirm our pre-conceived prejudices. This leads us to advise that, if possible, you do dig a little deeper into your pocket than what’s being asked here. Ultimately if you’re at all fussy about image quality, the VR-310 is not quite the bargain it may seem on paper.”

“The VR-310 is a compact 10x zoom optical camera, capable of taking pictures which are perfectly acceptable when considering the price it is available for. If you are on a budget and would like a point and shoot with more zoom than you normally find on a camera at this price then you can’t go wrong with the VR-310.”

“The positives however are that the VR-310 is a camera that is easy to use, has that broader than average focal range (although not 100% perfect throughout), some fun built-in digital filters and a simple and approachable layout. And, in hitting that £99 sweet spot it should just fly off the shelves no matter what critical barbs we aim at it.”
